ScottishPower Renewable held public drop in sessions at Syston Community Centre on Thursday 25th June and Queniborough Scout Hall on Friday 26th June.

There was a wide range of displays, maps and photographs to show how the turbines would appear from two different views.
A spokeperson for ScottishPower Renewable said that they expected more people to attend the session in Queniborough.

There was some local interest, one visitor from Syston, Mr Stearne spoke to the Project Director, who explained what was being proposed and that they think very carefully about where and how many turbines would be erected. They try to cause as little disruption as possible to the community and build in a fund of £20,000 per year for 20 years to support it. Mr Stearne said he didn’t see that the wind turbines would pose a problem to anyone and that we need to do something about renewable energy.

There was a police presence, as a small group of protestors gathered outside the community centre collecting signatures for a petition against the wind farm. One said that the map being used by ScottishPower renewable was inaccurate as it omits the Queniborough cemetery and properties along the South Croxton Road to the far end of the proposed site.

The protesting group has gathered 240 signatures so far as their concerns are not just the wind farm, which they are not against in theory, but they consider the site to be inappropriate, as it is adjacent to the cemetery at one side. Footpaths and bridleways also cross the proposed site. They also have concerns regarding the fifty metre lorries entering the site and the damage the construction of the wind turbines would cause.
