Residents are being asked to give their views on proposals to reduce traffic speeds along Barkby Road in Syston. Proposed measures include the installation of speed cushions, to slow down traffic travelling along the road, and parking bays. This is also part of a plan to reduce the number of vehicles using the route as a cut-through.
The £60,000 scheme is being funded by money from nearby housing developments. The formal consultation period began on 21st August and ends on 11th September. Plans of the proposals can be viewed on the County Council’s website or at Syston Library, Upper Church Street.
Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and transportation, said: “Local residents will benefit from these measures as the scheme is designed to reduce vehicle speeds along Barkby Road.
“We hope that people will take the time to let us know what they think about the proposals. We value the public’s opinion and we want to make sure that we provide a better environment for the residents and users of Barkby Road.”
Comments on the proposals can be made in writing to the County Council, via www.leics.gov.uk/consultations, by calling the Customer Service Centre on 0116 305 0001 or by using comment forms available from Syston Library.
