New Barkby WI

At our September meeting, members were entertained and informed by Mrs Kerry Evans of Syston who gave a flower demonstration, making four arrangements containing roses, spray carnations and sunflowers, plus other plant foliage material. One arrangement was made in a plastic bottle and decorated around the edge with laurel leaves and green tissue paper, pink roses were then placed into oasis fitted in the bottle.
All the arrangements were raffled off and the winners were Mrs B Jameson, Mrs B Lancaster, Mrs P Warren and Mrs R Foster.

The vote of thanks was given by Mrs M Gamble, who also won the competition for ‘a small flower arrangement’. Mrs B Jameson and Mrs P Warren were tea hostesses.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday 7th October at 7.30pm in Syston Community Centre. The theme for this meeting is ‘Murder cases in Leicestershire and Rutland’ and the competition is ‘a memory of Leicestershire’.
