Mr David Bell a member of the Crime Writers Association visited New Barkby WI for their October meeting and spoke on Murder Cases in Leicestershire and Rutland from the seventeenth to the twenty first centuries, highlighting cases and in the 1980’s the discovery and development of DNA, which is now a vital part of murder investigations.
Mrs Doris Conroy gave the vote of thanks. The competition for the Leicestershire memory was won by Mrs B Jameson. Mrs S Gamble was the raffle prize winner and Mrs J Brewerton and Mrs R Foster were the tea hostesses.
Recently, several members went on a trip to Highgrove House, the home of HRH The Prince of Wales, and had an enjoyable day out organised by Mrs Shirley Franklin.
The annual meeting will be on 4th November.
Visitors are always welcome at our meetings which are held on the first Wednesday in the month at Syston Community Centre at 7.30pm.
