Rainbows Birthday ‘Thank You’
This September Rainbows Children’s Hospice, the only children’s hospice to cover the East Midlands, celebrated its 15th birthday and they want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all their supporters.
“It’s absolutely true to say that we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our volunteers, individual supporters and supporters from trusts, schools, businesses and other groups,” says Patricia Brookes, Director of Fundraising at Rainbows. “We felt that our 15th birthday should be marked by saying a huge thank you to each and every one of them.”
To that end a Thank You card, sponsored by local companies, was sent out to thousands of people listed on the Rainbows’ database. At the Thank You awards ceremony, held during the 15th Birthday Party on 22nd September, there was a chance to recognise key contributions.
The Thank You Awards categories were:
Thank You – Groups; supported by the Derby Evening Telegraph
Thank You – Schools; supported by Smooth Radio
Thank You – Businesses; supported by Oak Fm
Thank You – Individuals; supported by Countryside La Vie
Thank You – Volunteers and Ambassadors; supported by BBC Radio Leicester
Thank You – Grant Making Organisations; supported by the Leicester Mercury
Continues Patricia: “We threw a Birthday Party to celebrate our 15 years and, although it was impossible to get everyone along who has been involved, we invited our families, volunteers and supporters from every walk of life. It was a true Birthday Party with cake and plenty of fun – plus of course our Awards. The party was our way of saying thank you very, very much for all your help and support.
“The awards were designed to recognise everyone involved with Rainbows. The Awards themselves took the form of a coloured glass block dedicated to each category and each one will be mounted in the Hospice’s ‘Wall of Celebration’.”
