Celebrations and Congratulations
What a splendid service we had on 20th September when during the Mass we said prayers and gave thanks for two great couples. Bill and Eleanor celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary and Judith and David their Ruby Wedding. At the conclusion of the service they were both presented with flowers and a bottle of wine.
Baptism joannas-baptism
It was wonderful on Sunday 27th September to be witness to the baptism of Joanna Bullock. Jo is to be married next year and has now become a regular worshipper with us. Congratulations Jo and thank you for the extra special biscuits you provided to go with the coffee after the service!
Ladies Guild
September 14th
What a splendid achievement that the guild was able to present a cheque for £1000 to Macmillan Nurses. Our group of ladies worked hard all year raising this money and it was a pleasure to present the cheque to a representative of this organisation. We heard of the work that they do and how they are now known as Cancer support.
September 28th
One of our ladies, Diane Mee came to the rescue when our planned speaker, Mrs Pacey, was suddenly taken to hospital. Diane gave us a demonstration of her hobby card making. Most of the members became busy, with the help of Diane, in the making of Christmas cards. All had an enjoyable evening.
October 12th
David Tideswell spoke to us about Robins in the Garden. He was a very humorous and excellent speaker. He included slides of robins in his garden in the spring through to the winter.
Harvest
The celebration of Harvest was a very special morning. The bells rang out for the 10am service and the congregation, including a large group of children, heartily sang out many of the traditional hymns.
The amazing flower arranging group had filled the church with flowers and produce. Every windowsill glowed with Autumnal colours. It is not usual to pick out any arrangement but this was special in that the pedestal was the first time that Mary Gamble was back after her knee operation. Welcome back Mary, you are an example to us all!
The eleven30 congregation followed that service. Once again the children enjoyed singing the songs and gave thanks for the wonders of creation. The activity this time was to plant a crocus bulb to grow and flower by Christmas. tomsk-church-news-2 Tomsk celebrated his 6th birthday by being with us! After refreshments in church many of that congregation and the 10am people gathered in the Church Hall for a Faith Lunch. The table groaned with the amount of food that had been brought and everyone enjoyed sharing it.
Many thanks go to everyone who contributed and special thanks to Lesley Middleton who coordinated the donations.
The produce from the two services was donated to the Salvation Army.
