Home-Start – Volunteers Make a Difference for Local Families

Because it can be hard being a parent with young children, Home-Start recruits and trains volunteers to visit and support families with at least one child under the age of five.   Home-Start Family Support Volunteers are parents and grandparents who have spare time to help another family; families such as Heather’s who were new to the area and found it difficult to cope with two young children without the support she used to have from family and friends, or Debbie who found herself suffering the anguish of postnatal illness instead of the joys of motherhood. Through the help of a volunteer trained by Home-Start Charnwood, parents gain emotional support, friendship, and are given practical help, which enables them to make a positive change to their lives.

If you can spare a few hours a week, enjoy working with the under five’s. If you are looking for a new challenge and would like to help your community, develop your skills and like to meet new people
Why not talk to Home-Start about becoming a Family Support Volunteer?

Our volunteers have a positive impact on the lives of local families who need our help, in return receive excellent training and support and payment of expenses.
Home-Start Charnwood is currently recruiting new volunteers for their volunteer training courses for 2010. If you are a Mum, Dad or Grandparent with three or four hours per week to spare and live in the Charnwood area, we would love to hear from you.
