Introducing The New Town Manager

allan-clarke I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your new Town Manager working for Syston Town Council. My working career started at Ladybird Books in Loughborough where I was originally an apprentice Bookbinder, going on to become a Warehouse Manager and ultimately a Production Manager before the factory closed in 1999. It was during this time I attained various Management qualifications including the Institute for Supervisory Management Diploma. After my 24 years at Ladybird, I worked for two companies in Nottingham one of which as a Director and Partner that employed 16 staff. All this was good experience for Recruitment, Health and Safety and Budgetary controls within a very cut-throat industry.

In 2005 I joined Charnwood Borough Council working in the Mayoralty Department. This provided experience working with Councillors within a Local Government environment. Most of my time was used organizing the Mayoralty Diary including special high profile events. I think my most rewarding moment was putting together Loughborough’s Remembrance Day Service which involved 4,000 people.
I have come to Syston willing to learn but to also challenge things on why we do it the way we do.
I will do my very best for the Community, partner organisations and the Council.

 Allan Clarke
Town Manager
