Ladies Guild

26th October

Joanne from Honey Pots spoke to us about her shop on the Melton Road. How children and adults had fun painting pots which are collected the following week after firing.

Joanne showed us how to paint a tile and put a design on it using simple tools.

We helped to design a plate which will be used at our meetings for serving biscuits.

9th November

On this evening Mrs Judith Dalton spoke to us about her life as an army wife.

Quite a different life, as she said, to her strict Methodist upbringing!

She told us about her experience in England, Cyprus and Germany. Her life was full with moving from place to place, bringing up two children and training to be a teacher.

A very interesting talk enjoyed by all.

The November theme was saints as it was All Saints Day!

First the children heard what it was to be a saint, a very special person who lived their life close to God.

The congregation heard and took part in the story of Zacchaeus who climbed a tree the better to see Jesus and how Jesus called him down and went and had tea with him and how that changed Zacchaeus’ life for ever. Where he was a greedy man, only after what he could get, he became generous and loving. After the singing and prayers there were the usual refreshments for all and the children created light catchers to hang in a window.

In December this service will be on every Sunday at 11.30am

Candlelit Dinner

For the eigth year this took place on 7th November. As usual hostesses took charge of a table providing everything except the food! There were the usual candelabra and flower arrangements but Elaine Trewick this year decided to follow a nautical theme and her part of the hall was themed as a boat! The food was provided by Terry Farmer and his team who cooked a three course dinner followed by cheese and biscuits, tea, coffee and petit fours. The entertainment was by the ever-talented Mick Smith.

This event raised over £300 for church funds.
