SYSTON BOWLERS CELEBRATE COMPETITION SUCCESS

More than 40 cups, shields and other trophies were awarded during the annual Presentation Night  at Syston Men’s Bowling Club on Saturday 7th November.  The full list of competition winners honoured on the occasion: 4-Wood Singles – Club Championship Winner: Roy Hill, Runner-up: Rob Wilbourn.

2-Wood Singles Winner: Eric Hall, Runner-up: Gordon Pell. 4-Wood Pairs Winners: Dave Hudson and John Lester, Runners-up: Pete Hancock and Arthur Calver. Maidens’ 4-Wood Singles Winner: Gerry Kennell, Runner-up: Ray Dexter. Triples Winners: Gerry Kennell, John Lamble and  Ray Wood, Runners-up: Des Eggitt, Don Creasey and Tom Morris. 2-Wood Pairs Winners: Gerry Kennell  and Gordon Pell,Runners-up: John Lamble and Dave Hudson. Mixed Pairs Winners: George Dodge and  Kate Toon, Runners-up: Pete Hancock and Kate Williams. ‘Syston Town News’ Mixed Pairs Winners: Janice Wilbourn and Dave Hudson, Runners-up: Eric Hall and Bev Wright

Congratulating not only the winners but everyone who entered, Club President, Colin Grimes said:  “Competitions offer all Members the opportunity to meet others they might not normally encounter in the course of the Season.  Participation helps to expand understanding and appreciation of the game, increases enjoyment and lends a focus to the Season.” 

He thanked Noel Evatt, Competitions Secretary, for his sterling organisational work throughout the year, and paid special tribute to the Ladies’ Section of the Club for their help and support on and off the green.
