St Peter & St Paul Church News for March 2010
Team Service
What a splendid occasion this was. We waited and received candles, which were lit before we processed in to pack St Hildas. Afterwards no one rushed away as we enjoyed the refreshments and fellowship.
Ladies Guild
Sadly our first meeting in January had to be cancelled due to the bad weather.
On 25th January Mike Davey spoke to us about his suburban garden through the year. We saw slides of flowers, shrubs and trees. An interesting talk which we enjoyed.

Quiz Night
The hall was absolutely packed for this event! And what an evening it was as Terry Farmer asked the questions and the heads went down to discuss the possible answers. With so many tables close together the discussions had to be very careful!
Halfway through, the quiz paused to allow the contestants to enjoy a hot meal of faggots, sausages, baked beans, mushy peas and mash, followed by an enormous selection of sweets most of which had been donated. While the totals were added at the end the raffle was drawn. Once again most of the prizes were donated. The triumphant team was from Barkby. Congratulations to them.
A most magnificent total of £704.50 was raised.
Shelter
The total collection for SHELTER over Advent, Christmas and the New Year amounted to £414.04. This was made up as envelopes and donations £281.60 and Carol Service £132.44. A magnificent effort from you all, thank you very much! A cheque has been sent to SHELTER towards their Christmas Appeal.

This family friendly service continues to meet every Sunday now, with songs, prayers and Bible stories with activities for the children, followed by refreshments.
Mothering Sunday
Once again there will be a combined service at 10.30am. This will be a family friendly Parish Eucharist to which everyone is welcome. It will include the distribution of flowers and be followed by refreshments.
Picture shows the activities enjoyed at
