Syston Schools raise over £1,500 for Haiti
The Merton Primary, St Peter and St Paul’s Primary and Wreake Valley College have been busy fund raising to help the earthquake victims in Haiti. The Merton staff and students had a Hats for Haiti day and raised in excess of £200. St Peter and St Paul’s chose to use maps of Haiti in each classroom on the table and children placed coins on the map. They have raised £288.51. Wreake Valley College had two events. One was a hamper for Haiti raffle where all staff across the college brought in donations to make up a hamper as a prize. There were so many donations (of some fabulous things) that there were enough for six hampers. Staff bought raffle tickets and raised over £300. The other was where students had a hats for Haiti day when they paid a minimum of £1 donation to wear headwear for a day. Following the two events, the total raised by the college by Monday 1st February, was over £1,000, with funds still coming in.
