Barkby united cricket club are pleased to announce that Tom Flowers is to return to play for the club where he first started his junior cricket career.
This is a massive boost to the club who will this season be playing in the first division of the Everards Leicestershire Cricket League.
Flowers who will be vice captain of the Saturday first team, is a right hand bat and is a more than useful spin bowler. He had been playing for Loughborough town in the premier division and last season held a regular spot in the Leicestershire second eleven, where he had a good season, scoring a century against Northamptonshire’s second eleven. Tom captained the Leicestershire young cricketers on their tour to India in season 2005 – 2006. He will also be helping to coach the clubs junior players. Barkby chairman John Lee said “It is great to have Tom back at the club where he started his experience both on the field and coaching, he will be invaluable for the future of the club.”
Barkbys first two fixtures sees them play Hinckley town at home and Illston Abbey away, both these teams were relegated from the premier division last season.
