Local Headmaster takes up Brain and Spine Foundation London Marathon Challenge.

Headmaster of Ratcliffe College, Mr Gareth Lloyd, is facing the gruelling challenge of running the London Marathon.
On 25th April Gareth will be donning his shorts and running 26.2 miles to raise money for The Brain and Spine Foundation.
Gareth moved to Leicestershire last September when he joined Ratcliffe College as Headmaster and has enjoyed getting to know the area through his love of running.
‘Before I arrived in Rearsby last August, I had no idea just how beautiful the countryside of Leicestershire and Rutland is. It has been great discovering runs through the surrounding area and, having raised over £100,000 for charities in previous marathons, I felt I should commit myself to make the effort again this year.’
Although Gareth has to fit in his training around his new demands as Headmaster, he believes all the hard work will be worth it if he can raise a good sum of money for his charity and hopes the local community will jump on board and help him support this worthwhile cause.
The Brain and Spine Foundation not only supports those who have suffered from the trauma of brain and spinal injuries, but also their families, carers and medical experts who provide the love, care and skills that are so badly needed. Gareth has two close friends, both of whom are now wheelchair-bound owing to spinal injuries; he has also lost a very special student owing to a fatal neck injury, so the charity is very close to Gareth’s heart.
