Healthy Body, Healthy Me!
The children at Charnwood Nursery and Pre-school took part in the National Day Nurseries annual ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Me’ campaign from 15th to 19th March. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of good health, help children to stay happy and healthy and provide children with positive experiences of a healthy lifestyle. The week was fun filled and action packed! This is what they did:-
On ‘Muddy Monday’ children wore their wellington boots at the nursery all day, they participated in wellie throwing competitions, painted wellie tracks, had mud pie play and planted their own cress seeds.
The pre-school children hosted a ‘Big Breakfast’ on Tuesday morning, where early bird parents were invited to have breakfast with their children at the nursery. Children delighted in sharing the toys and displays in the classroom with their parents and demonstrating how they complete their morning breakfast routine.
On ‘World Cup Wednesday’ the children at Charnwood Nursery and Pre-school hosted mini world cup matches, including warm up activities with the nurseries sports co-ordinator. Children wore their favourite football team’s kit and engaged in sporting activities all day. ‘Stop the rot’ Thursday was designed to teach the children about the benefits of brushing their teeth. There was lots of toothpaste play, fun ‘stop the rot’ activities and lots of flashing of bright smiles during the normal daily tooth brushing routine. On ‘Fun time Friday’, Charnwood Nursery and Pre-school hosted a Sports Relief party. Children and staff turned up in fancy dress and joined in party games to win prizes. Staff members Stacey and Leona face painted throughout the day, filling the nursery with tigers, butterflies and spidermen!! The children thoroughly enjoyed ‘Healthy body, Healthy me’ week!
