On Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th March the years three and four children at Merton School performed a futuristic production called The Blue Crystal which has a environmental twist in that people on Earth have wasted the resources and need the Blue Crystal in order to survive. It is stolen by the Zarcons, a people from another planet who also need the powers of the Blue Crystal. The superhero, Captain Torr, shown in the centre of the picture above, saves the day for earth and its inhabitants. The children were very excited before the performance and Mrs Hall one of the teachers of year three and four and a director of the play wanted to thank Mary Stokes for all her hard work in helping to make a lot of the costumes. The children have also been involved with the costumes with year four children being the actors and year three children creating the props, being part of the choir and the dancers. All the children involved in the acting had to audition for the parts and there were held during the early part of the term and the last two weeks before the production had been very busy getting everything ready. Mrs Hall along with Mrs Palmar, Ms Lee and Mrs Beaverstock would like to thank everyone for their contributions and hope they all enjoyed the play.
