The KWN Awards Ceremony will take place on Tuesday 4th May and will be themed similar to the ‘Oscars’, where student video production teams from participating schools, will receive awards in a range of categories such as Best Pictures and Sound, Best Reporting Team, Best Learning Journey and so on. On the day the 19 secondary schools will have the chance to view one another’s documentaries and also take part in a series of collaborative creative activities. The day will be a real chance for young people from around the UK to showcase their talent. The winners of the competition are then invited to New York City to celebrate their accomplishments and take part in a weekend of activities.
Wreake Valley Community College’s very own Year 10 BTEC Media Production students, have collectively produced an educational documentary for the Panasonic KWN (Kids Witness News) competition. The documentary is about littering and the misuse of chewing gum disposal and graffiti around the Leicester city centre. Students researched, produced, directed and edited the video documentary to help highlight the issues and consequences of littering and graffiti in the area.
