INCREASED SATISFACTION – WASTE COLLECTION SURVEY

Charnwood Borough Council has received high satisfaction rates for its waste collection services from the residents of the borough. A survey was carried out in April by Serco, Council’s waste contractors, which revealed an overall satisfaction rate of 86.8%, an increase of 2.5% from the survey conducted earlier in January this year. The results of this survey compare favourably to the previous survey in January. 94.5% were satisfied with their garden waste collection, an increase of 4.2%. 90.5% were satisfied with their refuse collection, an increase of 4.5%. 90.5% were satisfied with their recycling collection, an increase of 1.5%. 88.9% were satisfied with their bulky household waste collection, a decrease of 0.6%. 71.5% were satisfied with the street cleaning service, same as before.
Since taking over the Council’s waste contract in August 2009, Serco has made various changes to improve the service. Councillor Hilary Fryer Lead Member for Environment for Charnwood Borough Council said: “The results of the latest survey are very positive. They show that the changes made to the recycling service are working well for the residents of Charnwood and have since helped in increasing the recycling rate of the borough. We must endeavour to continue to re-cycle as much as we can. We do not halt our endeavours to increase our customer satisfaction in all areas of waste collection to try and make Charnwood a cleaner and better place for all our residents. We can all do our bit and should be doing so.”For more information about the Council’s waste collections services, please visit http://www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/recycling
