The Inner Wheel Club of the Wreake Valley Support a Trip to the Seaside

rainbows-children-trip Two Leicestershire charities, the Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre (Mablethorpe) and the Rainbows Hospice, were linked at the Spring bank holiday weekend. A group of thirty-one youngsters that are the siblings of sick children, along with carers, made their way to the Holiday Centre at Mablethorpe for a fun filled break.
Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre was founded in 1898 and is still going strong today. During the summer holidays it will be full of youngsters who for a wide variety of reasons are unable to enjoy a family holiday but can derive great benefit from a sunshine break by the sea.
The Rainbows Hospice for children and young people opened in 1994 and cares for 250 families every year. The whole family is supported along with the care for the child with the life threatening illness.
To fund this special weekend President Rosemary Jennings and members of the Inner Wheel Club of the Wreake Valley have held fund raising events and received donations from other local Inner Wheel Clubs, the Wreake Valley Rotary club, friends and Trust funds to meet the costs.
“Fantastic” was the report from the Rainbows Sibling Support Team following their trip. Although it was a wet weekend they had a wonderful time playing on the beach, paddling in the sea, visiting the seal sanctuary and Fantasy Island. They organised a talent show for the final evening playing the guitar, singing and dancing.
