Watermead Challenge

wvrc-watermead-challenge1 The Wreake Valley Rotary Club held their first Watermead challenge event on Wednesday 14th July when they were overwhelmed by the turn out of runners and walkers to take part. Over 180 people took up the challenge and completed one or other of the two distances, the first was a five mile run involving three circuits of John Merrick’s Lake and two circuits of King Lear’s Lake, and the other a three mile run or walk which is two laps of John Merrick’s Lake and one lap of King Lear’s Lake.
They raised in excess of £1,400 which will go to the Richard Engelgardt Trust Fund, St John Ambulance and local Syston and Birstall youth groups and clubs.
The Wreake Valley Rotary Club would like to thank all those who entered and supported them in this event. wvrc-watermead-challenge2
