Local Businesses support Sileby Church

St Mary’s church in Slieby needs to raise substantial funds to make its tower safe and local businesses have been fantastic in donating promises and gifts for a grand auction to be held on Friday 17th June.

The 850 year old Grade 2 listed building needs urgent repairs to its tower to make the building safe. The situation is so severe that part of the tower battlements have already been dismantled to avoid stone work falling through either the church roof or worse onto a passer by. The drainage system is also badly corroded, causing damp and further erosion to the base of the tower. The event on the 17th June is just one of many fund raising initiatives planned.

Leading items include a weekend staying in a Cambridge college, tea on the terrace of the House of Commons and a made to measure suit.
Tickets coat £2.50 to include a glass of wine and a full catalogue and are available from Joy Wood on 0116 237 4545 or email: rector_secretary@btinternet.com

Doors open at 6.00pm for viewing, auction starts at 7.30pm.
