President of New Barkby W.I. Shirley Franklin, welcomed members to their May meeting to discuss the Resolution to be voted on at the National Federation of W.I.’S at their AGM. The speaker was Janet Kirk, from the Leicestershire and Rutland Federation.
The Resolution is ‘The NFWI calls on the Government to increase investment in the training, employment and retention of midwives in England and Wales to ensure services are adequately resourced and are able to deliver a high standard of care.’
Members voted for the Resolution, proposed by Lancashire Federation.
The vote of thanks was given by Vice President Christine Grant.
The raffle was won by Mrs B Gamble and the tea hostesses were Mrs A Smith and Mrs J Smith.
Our meeting on the 16th May was a social event when we had a taste and try evening.
Wednesday 6th June is the date of our next meeting at Syston Community Centre at 7.30pm when the speaker will be Malcolm Britton on ‘Brooksby families’. The competition will be for an item beginning with the letter ‘B’.
