Barkby and Beeby W.I.

August meeting report.

This month we were entertained by Rena Sturgess who gave us an insight into her family tree which she has been researching for a number of years. She rendered many hilarious anecdotes about her Aunts and Great Aunts and read a poem about Aunt Nora’s Bloomers which told of the nutmeg she placed in them to ward off rheumatism! Amongst the family tree stories were also a mishap on holiday and an encounter with a ‘pike’ at a foot pedicure establishment she came across whilst visiting the records office!
Rena was both entertaining and informative, pointing us in the right direction as to how to get help tracing your family tree by visiting the records office and also at the Leicester and Rutland Family History Society.
