New exercise referral sessions have been launched at South Charnwood Leisure Centre in Syston.
The new class is aimed exclusively at people with health problems who have been referred by their doctor, physiotherapist, dietician or hospital consultant and aims to help improve overall health and wellbeing.
The Exercise Referral Scheme gives people the opportunity to come along to their local centre and exercise under supervision for 12 sessions, during which they are monitored and encouraged and health statistics taken.
Councillor Paul Harley, Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: “The health and wellbeing of residents in Charnwood is one of our key priorities and the Exercise Referral Scheme plays an important role.
“It is a perfect way to help nurse people back to health after difficult times and I’m delighted that South Charnwood Leisure Centre is hosting these worthwhile sessions.”
Run by a highly qualified instructor, who is also a local practice nurse, sessions start at 12pm and will involve gentle circuits. For further information, please contact Nita Pearson on 01509 634594.
