Between Thursday 11th and Saturday 13th April. The Wreake Valley Rotary Club held their 9th Annual Charity Real Ale Festival at the Syston Community Centre. They had another successful year, raising in the region of £1300, much of which will be used for local good causes. Organiser, Fred Sleath said “We are looking for one major beneficiary next year, so if any of you are aware of suitable local causes or individuals then please get in touch with Wreake Valley Rotary Club by visiting their website www.wreakevalleyrotary.org.uk, during the year, or speaking to a member of the Wreake Valley Rotary Club.” They really need to know by Christmas because of preparing publicity etc.
They held a pub quiz night on the Saturday, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants as far as they could tell, at least judged by the fact no-one hit the question master! A number of prizes were donated by local businesses for which they are sincerely grateful.
The club would like to thank everyone who supported the event.
Next year will be their tenth festival so they are hoping to make it a bigger event, possibly holding it over the spring bank holiday week-end at the end of May!
