Syston in Bloom

Syston has once again entered the East Midlands in Bloom competition and the judges Sharon Thomas and Dave Bramwell visited Syston Town on 9th July 2013. An enormous effort has been put in this year from the In Bloom Committee and the Council staff. Retailers have kindly sponsored the attractive hanging baskets that line the streets in the town. heritage walks in and around Syston. These will be available free of charge from various shops. 

Archdale Street Park

Archdale Street Park was nominated for the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge in 2011. Syston Town Council has now received a Non-Charitable Deed of Dedication between Syston Town Council and The National Fields Association. The challenge was to safeguard recreational spaces for future generations in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee.

A consultation has now been held with St Peter and St Paul Pre-School, St Peter and St Paul Primary School and Merton Primary School. The children were excited by the prospect of a new play area and enjoyed choosing their favourite pieces of equipment. The detailed design proposals for the play facility will be developed directly from the consultation exercise with the schools, and it could be implemented by autumn 2013.

Syston Fair and Circus

Billy Bates funfair is great family entertainment, and this year it will run from Friday 7th September to Saturday 15th September on Central Park. Following the funfair there will be a visit from Circus World Entertainment from Sunday 22nd September to Sunday 29th September on Central Park.

Councillor Vacancies

Syston Town Council is an establishment of 20 town councillors and manages a community centre, four parks, a cemetery, allotments and a sport’s field and pavilion.

Christmas Event 2013

Our Christmas Event this year will be held on Saturday 7th December from 12.00pm until 6.00pm on Central Park. There will be a central stage and compére, and a Santa’s Grotto for the children. A Speciality market will be held on the park with food, drink, and craft stalls for all your last minute Christmas shopping. In the afternoon there will be a comedy magic show for the young children, followed by a Santa Parade, and the finale will be a fantastic professional firework display.
