Syston is Blooming

On Monday 1st July, representatives from some of the companies who have sponsored containers on Melton Road, Syston met to have a photograph taken with members of the Syston in Bloom committee. There are now five containers brimming over with flowers to help the town gain further recognition in the East Midlands in Bloom competition this year, judging took place on Tuesday 9th July, see separate story on page 19.

The Syston in Bloom committee would like to thank the following businesses for sponsoring the planters, they are Pukka Pies, David Wilson Homes, Dunelm and Topps Cars. They would also like to thank Plantscape who have provided the planters fully planted and will remove them again at the end of the season.

Our Pictures show below: Roger Jarvis from Pukka Pies and Bridget from David Wilson Homes standing between the two planters sponsored by their respective companies, and above with some members of the Syston in Bloom group, Ron Holdforth, Derek Cox and Trevor Hodson.

We hope Syston retains the Silver Gilt, which was achieved last year and featured some beautiful hanging baskets, which this year number 147 around the town making the place look blooming lovely! See page two for the Brownies contribution to the competition.
