Syston Local History Group Annual Exhibition

On Saturday 21st September the Annual Exhibition again gave visitors a good insight into the history of Syston. This year’s theme was built around the Queen’s Coronation 60 years ago, with a board dedicated to showing a copy of the booklet produced at the time and all the activities of the day. There were also paintings by Mike Finley and others. This exhibition never disappoints and visitors can be heard discussing pictures of themselves as children in the school photographs and laughter as memories are exchanged. It also gives anyone not familiar with Syston to gain a view into the past through various display boards showing the wide range of businesses that have employed people for over a century in some instances. Visitors also enjoyed the refreshments on offer.
The Church had a stall promoting their open day with ladies in Edwardian dress.
Other display boards included a lovely one full of Postcards from a bygone era.
