The Leicestershire Speakers – CHINS UP GIRLS!

Mark Glover presented an ‘impromptu’ evening in which members’ suggestions for subjects were redistributed so that anyone might get topic! Ten minutes to prepare a five-minute speech.
A strong streak of feminism emerged as Dot Barnard told the heavily outnumbered men how to handle a woman. Josephine Burgess spoke of the (mental) strength of women citing, among others, Mother Teresa, Edith Cavell and Margaret Thatcher.
Among the many other topics, Anne Jones made an entertaining case for the table being the world’s greatest invention. Caveman didn’t have them because they hadn’t got chairs!
Mark should be congratulated on facilitating such a splendid evening.
