The last few weeks have been an exceptionally busy time for the children, parents and staff at Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school.
The nursery was privileged to host a ‘Parent Play’ workshop, held over two weekends, facilitated by the award winning and inspirational Ben Kingston-Hughes. The workshop provided an opportunity to educate parents about the importance and benefits of play and how to play with their children whilst also reflecting on the statistics regarding modern day play experiences, e.g. the number of hours children spend in solitary play, the rise in cases of rickets and the impact on physical development. The training session was delivered using a combination of thought provoking discussion and interactive play sessions. Parents completed the training with an appreciation for the importance of providing open ended resources for imaginative play and how outdoor play experiences offered chances for risk taking, both of which help to develop children’s ability to cope with challenging situations in later life.
On 17th April Charnwood Nursery & Pre-school celebrated Easter with an Easter bonnet parade and party. Children and parents produced some fantastic and creative Easter bonnets. Over 30 parents attended to watch the children in the parade and see children receive prizes and Easter treats from special guest Peppa Pig! The afternoon ended with games, treats and a Peppa Pig themed bouncy castle.
