At New Barkby’s May meeting, President Mrs B. Saunders welcomed members to discuss the National Federation’s Resolution for its annual General meeting in June. Speaker was Glenice Wignall, Chairman of the Public Affairs and International Committee, for Leicestershire and Rutland.

The Proposal is:- ‘That every member of the W.I. should make their wishes known, regarding organ donation, to families and friends and to encourage members of their local communities to do likewise.’

The majority vote was for the proposal. There was plenty of time for the discussion and vote. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs B. Saunders. Afterwards members enjoyed some social time.

The competition for the letter ‘M’ was a fridge magnet of a Pansy Shell, found in South Africa won by Mrs J. Goulden.

The raffle prize was won by Mrs S. Gamble. Refreshments were served by Mrs C. Hickling and Mrs C. Parker.

The April Social evening was Easter Biscuits and Bonnets, the winner for biscuits was Mrs B. Gamble and a decorated hat was won by Mrs P. Smith.

The May’s social evening was a walk around Syston.

The June meeting will be held on Wednesday 4th June with a talk on The W.I.’s Denman College, in Oxfordshire. Visitors are welcome to attend. Syston Community Centre 7.30pm.
