Pochin School does Recycling Clothes

On Friday 16th May children, staff, and teachers at the Pochin school, Barkby carried into school filled bags of unwanted/unused clothes for a grand weigh in at the end of the day. The PTA had organised with ‘JimmyJoe’s – Recycling Clothes’ this event to raise valuable funds for the children of the school. Each killogram weighed in raises an amount of money for the school.

The bags were piled high and the children were very excited about which class would weigh in the most, the prize being a non-uniform day plus a certificate for each class member.

Bags came flooding in during the day with the last few hitting the end of day deadline of 3.20pm. The weigh in commenced after school. Carla Atkins, Chair of the PTA says “The children were high with excitement of who would win, along with the sense of achievement of helping to raise money for the PTA and in ‘Doing our bit’ for recycling.”

The final weigh-in totalled 352kg from the whole school, with Class 3 winning with a total of 138kg closely followed by Class 2.

A cheque was presented to Carla Atkins on behalf of the PTA for £196.00.

Well done and Thank You to all involved.
