The Roundhill Academy made the short trip to Syston RFC to compete in the final of the County Bowl against Gartree High School on the back of two good wins against Uppingham and English Martyrs. The team started the stronger after great scrummaging, lineout play and ball retention from the forwards. We went into half time 24-10 up through strong running and tries from Joe Asher, Giorgi Vann, Josh Brown and Cameron Brown. Ethan Allton sent out a huge three man miss pass to Cameron for him to score in the corner. Two of the tries were converted by Kelan Draycott. At this point Gartree were still very much in the game after their winger scored a fine try down the left wing.
In the second half Roundhill extended their lead with further scores for Giorgi, Joe and Josh and further conversions from Kelan, which meant Roundhill were comfortable winners by 50-10.
Highlights of the match were a superb catch and 20m drive from the forwards in their own half, the way the team inter linked with each other, retained possession of the ball and tackled very well.
Well done to all who played: Kian Berridge, Jack Orton, Joe Dawson, Oliver Springthorpe, Yahya Dakri, Sam Taylor, James Duncan, Josh Brown, Joe Asher, Ethan Allton, Kelan Draycott, Giorgi Vann, Cameron Brown, Salman Jamal, James Hayes, Riley Harley, Tom Hames and Nikhil Pancholi.
Men of the match: Whole Squad.
