We had the perfect Summers evening for our Sapphire Anniversary Dinner on June 25th at Beedles Lake Golf Club.
The tables had been decorated with flower arrangements by Club members using the blues of Hydrangea and Larkspur and large white/green Roses. Celebratory clear lights were wound through the designs giving them an extra sparkle.
One of out founder members Rene James, arranged a beautiful pedestal of Delphiniums, pink Roses and Bells of Ireland (Molucella), and the room was further enhanced by the baskets which had been arranged by Club members for presentation to our special guests Jean Hill, our Founder President and Jill Bewick, President of the North Midlands Area of NAFAS.
The 25th June was also the birthday of two of other Founder Members. Mary Gamble and June Dexter were presented with baskets of Summer flowers whilst our entertainers for the evening ‘Old Gold’ sang ‘Happy Birthday’.
After a delicious meal, slices of the blue and white cake, made by member Joy Harris, were given out and then every member was surprised with lovely blue beaded bracelets made and given out by our Secretary Carol Suter.
Many happy times were relived when we all viewed photographs on display reminding us all of past Club events whilst “Old Gold” entertained us with songs from the last forty-five years.
Our Area President remarked that she could see the commitment and enthusiasm of our Club in the careful planning and detail in the organisation and presentation of the evening.
A big thank you to our hard working Committee and all those Club members who shared their time and talents to make such a success of our 45th Anniversary Celebrations.
Here’s to the next. Our Gold, in five years time!
