St Peter and St Paul’s Sports Festival

The Stn was in attendance to see the this excellent event on the 18th June.
We spoke with Head teacher, Fiona Buchan, just prior to commencement, and she enthused “This is the second time that event has been run as a whole school sports festival, and its great to see so many children and parents in attendance, I’m really looking forward to seeing the children display their abilities across a wide range of activities”.SPSP Sports day 1
The children did indeed have an enjoyable time competing in a host of different disciplines. Events included a sack race, javelin, hockey and penalty kicks. The morning sports were concluded with some sprint races.
Parents, grandparents and carers were then able to enjoy a picnic on the field with their children, before the event resumed again in the afternoon.
The Stn was very impressed with how smoothly this event was run, and the attendance was very creditable considering that the day had been rescheduled due to bad weather, we’ll look forward to next years festival!SPSP Sports day 2
In other news from the school, we were told about the annual trip to Min-y-Don in Wales.
Thirty-One year six pupils spent five days enjoying activities including canoeing, mountain biking, hi-ropes, rock climbing and the zip wire.
The Children enjoyed a campfire on the final night, and took the opportunity to toast marshmallows.
Teachers were delighted with the behaviour of the pupils during the trip, and commented that it was a great to see interaction between children that perhaps don’t always play together – a great bonding exercise!
