Sunshine, a Lovely Garden and Cream Teas!

The newly formed ‘Friends of St Peter and St Paul’s Church’ recently held a Garden Party at 1050, Melton Road, Syston.
On a lovely sunny Summer’s day at the end of July about 85 people made the effort to visit the beautiful half acre garden of this Edwardian house. Visitors were served with tea and wonderful variety of homemade cakes in shady spots on the lawn. There were various stalls including a tombola, a plant stall and marvellous array of bric-a-brac and books. There was also a children’s tombola with a prize every time, and a climbing frame and a sandpit to keep children occupied.
The event was well supported by local people and the Friends would like to thank all those who attended for their support. The total amount raised was a marvellous £545, which is a great boost to their funds. Friends are raising money to install a disabled toilet and sink at the back of the Parish church under the tower, and local support is very much appreciated.
