Paul Kerryson Awarded MBE in 2015 New Year’s Honours List

Curve’s outgoing Artistic Director, Paul Kerryson has been honoured with an MBE in the 2015 New Year’s honours list.
Paul Kerryson, who has been Artistic Director of Leicester Theatre Trust since 1991, was awarded the MBE for his services to theatre in Leicester and Leicestershire.
Curve Chief Executive, Fiona Allan said: “I am thrilled that Paul has been presented with this most prestigious award and would like to offer our sincere congratulations. Paul was a driving force behind the creation of Curve and his artistic vision has been instrumental in the venue’s success. The contribution that he has made to theatre, and also to Leicester, has been phenomenal and this is a very fitting tribute to his hard work and dedication.”
Paul Kerryson said: “I am truly honoured and thrilled to be awarded an MBE in recognition of my service to theatre in Leicester and Leicestershire. Of course it has been my privilege to have worked alongside so many talented people and have the continuing support of our wonderful audiences over many years. It was a great occasion for everyone when the Queen officially opened our fabulous Curve in 2008 and now to see the theatre flourish, thrive and connect with so many people has been the best experience that I could have wished for – I feel very blessed!”
This latest honour marks the end of a hugely successful year for Kerryson, who in October, was awarded the UK Theatre Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre. Earlier this month Curve also formally renamed their largest rehearsal room the ‘Paul Kerryson Rehearsal Room’ in his honour and his current production of The Sound of Music has already broken box office records for the venue.
Paul Kerryson has been Artistic Director of Leicester Theatre Trust since 1991, first at the Haymarket Theatre, and since 2008 at Curve. His final day as Artistic Director at Curve was 31st December 2014 but he will return in September to open the company’s critically acclaimed production of Hairspray ahead of a UK tour.
