Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church Christmas Tree Festival

Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church raised over £200 from their inaugural Christmas Tree Festival, which they will be donating to the Sick and Retired Priest’s Fund. The event itself took place over three days from Thursday the 20th to Saturday the 22nd of November within the Church on Beaumont Leys Lane.
Parish Priest, Father Martin Hardy praised his parishioners, and the local community for their help and generosity “It’s difficult to put into words my admiration for the volunteers that give of themselves so freely to organise and stage such events.” Father Martin continued “events such as this are an important part of parish life, not only because of the vital part they play in achieving our maintenance and development goals, but also because of the way in which they bring people together and welcome the wider community.”
“We hope to make this an annual celebration and the success of this debut festival is really encouraging going forward.” The Festival theme was ‘Countries of the World’ and it attracted 24 entries ranging from Sierra Leone to Norway. The eventual winner was The Carpenter’s Tree – ‘St Joseph’s of Bethlehem’ which garnered the most votes from the paying public.
