St Peter and St Paul’s church news

Ladies Friendship Circle
The meetings for 2015 opened with a very pleasant evening out at the Flying Childers at Kirby Bellars.
Our group was somewhat depleted owing to the sickness of many members but sixteen of us enjoyed a good meal out. We thank the staff who looked after us so well.
On Monday 26th January Christine Coldicott came to talk to us about Alzheimer’s disease. Mostly now for Christine that means visiting people in homes they reside in.
There were some sad stories, some amusing but always very moving.

You are truly amazing at St Peter & Paul’s Syston!
This is what SHELTER thinks of us when they acknowledged our gift of £593 raised from our Advent/ Christmas collection for their appeal.
It will help to ensure that more people who find themselves in desperate situations can access expert housing advice and support free of charge.
Our Donation Will Change Lives.
Since 2000, we have sent almost £7000 to SHELTER from our annual fund raising efforts, so we ARE truly amazing in Syston!
Thank you once again for your generosity.David FoxSHELTER Representative for SS Peter & Paul’s.
At this time of year we hold our AGM. It gives a chance to reflect on the past year. We continue to manage to ring the bells most Sunday mornings and practise on Friday evenings. This is thanks to a number of ringers from other churches. Our own band is quite small but very loyal. We had three learners at the beginning of 2014 and one young person is still ringing with us and is now a member of the Leicester Diocese of Bell Ringers.
If anyone thinks they may be interested in learning this ancient art and can give some time on a Friday evening from 7.45pm till 9.00pm and hopefully to ring for the morning service from 9.30am till 10.00am please either ring Vicki on 0116 260 8337 or just turn up one Friday evening and have a look at what happens!
Easter Lilies in memory of a loved one
If you would like to have an Arum lily as part of the decoration in the church at Easter please ring Vicki on 0116 260 8337. The cost will be £5. If you wish a name or message to be included these will be placed near the arrangement.
Mothering Sunday 15th March
Join us at 10.30am. A special time for families to come together to say thank you for mothers, something to make during the service for all the children, refreshments following.
