Roundhill Flower and Garden Club

Roundhill Flower and Garden Club held their 46th AGM in the usual Venue at the Church Hall of the Infant of Prague, Syston on 25th February.
Members enjoyed a Buffet Supper followed by an excellent talk with slides by Mary Howard from the National Garden Scheme (NGS).
Mary talked about the history of the NGS from its beginnings, when funds were raised to support retired Gardeners and Nurses to the present when £2.5million was raised for Cancer Charities, Parkinson Carers and Garden Charities. Gardens all over England open through the scheme and the famous yellow booklet detailing them all is available through retail outlets and online.
The booklet for Leicestershire and Rutland which gives details of over 50 gardens which open in the area as well as Garden Centres and Nurseries was given to each member of the Club at the end of Mary’s interesting and informative talk.
