Sixth Form students and staff from Wreake Valley Academy have returned from an adventure of a lifetime in Ghana, having spent 10 days living in the local community and working on the Eugemot Orphanage project.
Tom Tuckwood, from Venture Force, led the expedition and provided the students with a full and varied itinerary that enabled them to get a full flavour of life in the Volta region of Ghana.
They spent time with Ve Koloenu villagers learning to cook, visiting a local school and joining in with lessons, swimming at the foot of a waterfall and learning about local crafts and trade. Everyone came back with a real sense of achievement having also worked hard on the building project, for which they had spent over a year fundraising to help secure a permanent home for the children of the Eugemot Orphanage.
Wreake Valley Academy would like to say a very big thank you to the local businesses and individuals who contributed, making this expedition possible.
If you would like to make a donation to the fund, and thus help the project’s completion, then you can do so via http://www.vffoundation.co.uk/.
