In March Barkby & Beeby WI held a draw for those wishing to attend Buckingham Palace for the WI centenary garden party and this was won by Jane Kirkland. To help fund the day, the bowl made last month at the Fun With Clay evening will be raffled at our next meeting. We were then entertained by the Leicester Movie Makers who belong to a group of people who make films with their camcorders about many different subjects. They showed us eleven short films in all, with titles such as Blacksmith Blues and Snowy Morning which were set to music, Busy Bee, Abbey Farm and Food For Thought which were about wildlife and Mastermind which was set in a residential home and quite comical. There were also a couple of documentaries covering how the Mormons built up Salt Lake City and A Rutland Falconry Experience. The films were all quite different, some were funny, some informative and some just easy viewing. Altogether a very entertaining evening, followed, as usual, by tea and cakes. We meet every third Tuesday at 7.30pm in Barkby Village Hall, please feel free to come along as you will be made very welcome.
