Silverstone Race Debut for Local Teenager

15-year-old Ronan Quinn made an impressive race debut in the Ford Fiesta Junior Championship over the Easter weekend. The Fiesta Junior Championship is for 14-17 year olds and the series has further rounds at Snetterton, Donington, Rockingham and concludes at Brands Hatch in October.
Though Ronan had tested at Silverstone prior to the race, it had always been very wet so when he embarked on his first qualifying session it was the first time he got to drive the circuit in the dry. Racing lines are very different in the wet compared to the dry and with Silverstone also being such a high speed circuit this was a real challenge.
However Ronan set an impressive time which put him 6th fastest, averaging over 80mph. In the race Ronan made a brilliant start and finished in 5th place with his performance being recognised by the award of ‘Driver of the Meeting’.
Ronan is now looking forward to competing in his ‘home’ race at the East Midland circuit Donington Park on the 9th May.
