The Fastest Milkman in the West!

Kirby & West’s Graham Smith to run London Marathon in support of Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland
Graham Smith, Director of Kirby & West in Leicester, is a keen Marathon runner and has already competed in Paris, New York, Chicago and twice in London. This year he has chosen Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland to benefit from his fundraising.
This is not the first time that Graham has undertaken a massive challenge as he has previously raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity by travelling from Kirby & West in the city of Leicester down to Land’s End in Cornwall in an electric milk-float!
However, this challenge is a big one for Graham as only two years ago he underwent a double heart bypass operation. The surgery, resulting from a genetic condition, meant that he was out of action for some time but great determination and a lot of hard work to get fully fit means that 2015 will see Graham pounding the streets of London again and raising yet more valuable funds for a local Leicester charity.
As the Chairman of Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland, and previously as a trustee, Graham has been extremely influential in driving Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland forwards with a stronger commercial focus.
Speaking about the charity Graham said: “This is a fantastic local charity which supports vulnerable older people. Not many people are aware that the charity looks after anyone over the age of 50 and also supports their carer’s and families. I really hope that the London Marathon will raise lots of money and awareness as I believe Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland does such a wonderful job for the local community. We are all ageing and one day may rely on these very services ourselves”.
Tony Donovan, Executive Director of Age UK said: “We are incredibly grateful for Graham’s constant support of our charity, whether this is through his fundraising efforts or with the generous donation of his valuable time and advice. We hope that Graham will receive lots of sponsorship support with his London Marathon challenge”
So what’s next for Graham? He’ll just keep on running…..
