Age UK Moves to Permanent Furniture Warehouse

Following on from Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland’s successful trial of a Furniture Warehouse in George Street back in August 2014 the charity has decided to take on a permanent Furniture Warehouse, which will also be the location of our new Men in Shed’s Project.
Commenting, the Executive Director of Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland, Mr Anthony Donovan, said: “We continue to negotiate with a number of local firms and solicitors to acquire stock to sell to support the local charity – since we trialled our Warehouse in George Street back in August 2014 we have been extremely lucky to receive ongoing support and calls to collect some fantastic office and household furniture. Most of the furniture and bric-a-brac will be sold through our chain of 24 charity shops with larger items going into our new Warehouse. Our new and permanent Furniture Warehouse is located in Unit 1, Gladstone Street, Leicester – we will be opening to the public on Saturdays from 9.00am until 4.00pm – the first day of opening was Saturday 11th April 2015. If successful the charity will expand the number of days the Warehouse opens. Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is a local charity with a national name – all money raised through the charity’s shops and the warehouse go back into supporting LOCAL older people. Please come along on any Saturday, have a look, you never know, you might be able to pick up a real bargain!”
We will always have ongoing appeals for donated goods as we need to see an increase in donations of office and household furniture, bric-a-brac and other items of interest. We do collect saleable items of furniture for free – please call 0116 299 2233 for the nearest furniture shop to arrange collection.
