Syston Town Cricket Club

Syston Town Cricket Club’s winter training has been underway since the beginning of January, but it’s still not too late to give it a go. Nets are being held on Wednesdays until 5th April at the City Cricket Academy, Freeman’s Common, Leicester. The U13s and 15s train from 7.00 to 8.00pm and the U17s and seniors from 8.00 to 9.00pm. Kwik cricketers and U11s squads are practicing at Gateway College, Hamilton from 6.00 to 7.00pm also on Wednesday’s over the same period of time. New players young and old of all age groups are always welcome, so just turn up on the night or if you wish or give senior coach John Fraser a ring on 01455 212 729.
Cricket may be a summer game, but work on the square has to go on all year round. The photograph above, taken in December, shows Ken spreading fertiliser and son Scott giving it a trim. The square has responded well to the renovation works carried out last September. Thanks to Ken’s tender loving care throughout the winter the pitch, weather permitting, will be ready to go when the new season begins.
