Local Charity Inter Care, Talk to Syston U3A group

Inter Care representatives John Winter (pictured) and Anita Fletcher visited Syston U3A on 14th December 2016, to talk about the charity’s work. John explained to the group how Inter Care is supportingaround 130 rural health units in some of the poorest parts of Africa, with quality surplus medicines and healthcare goods. With this aid, Inter Care’s beneficiary health units in Africa are able to provide healthcare to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged patients, while Inter Care, by making use of surplus items, is helping to reduce waste.
Inter Care is one of the few UK charities licensed by the government’s Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and holds the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Service, in recognition of the contribution made by around 50 volunteers to its work. For a small charity established by two GPs over forty years ago, Inter Care has come a long way; today the population served by its beneficiary health units is over 11 million and in the last year alone, the charity sent almost £645,000 of medical aid to Africa.
Inter Care would like to thank everyone from Syston U3A who not only gave us the opportunity to talk about our vital work but raised an impressive £285 for Inter Care at the event. Thank you!!
