Syston In Bloom

Syston Station is continuing to attract Interest from East Midlands Trains. Mark Dalley, whose role as Customer Experience Manager at Leicester Station effectively makes him responsible for Syston, came to meet the Syston in Bloom team in early May. He had visited the station before, and had been impressed with the visual impact of the work done, especially the planters on the platform. Trevor Hodson showed him in more detail what had been done, and he was not allowed to keep his hands clean! Mark was pleased to be given the chance to plant a tree in the bed behind the platform, a task which he performed with true expertise, see our picture below.
Our main fundraising event is our Quiz Night at St Peter and St Paul’s Church Hall. This year it is on Saturday 21st October at 7.00pm. £7.00 will include food (bring your own drink) and an excellent occasion. Put it in your diary now!
Meanwhile, we need new volunteers, and if you are interested and willing to help us, then get in touch on our email address [email protected] and you will be made most welcome.
We’ll be at the Carnival on Saturday 2nd September. Come along, and buy a 2018 Syston ‘Then and Now’ calendar to support our work, and that of the Local History Group.
