On Thursday 22nd June, 14 members of the Syston High Flyers group, made up of staff from Syston Dry Cleaners and The Continental Café, along with family and friends took part in a parachute jump at Langar Airfield to raise money for a variety of charities.
Jumping out of a small plane above the clouds at 13,000ft certainly concentrates the mind and free-falling for 45 seconds is quite an experience.
Once the parachute opened there was another four or five minutes before landing, plenty of time to have a good look around and see your friends below waving up at you.
All fourteen completed the jump without a problem and some are keen to do it again!
The group, pictured left, raised a lot of money for a variety of charities and all in all, it was a very worthwhile and unforgettable experience.
A big thank you to the many people who sponsored.
On Thursday 13th July Paul Wayman of the Continental Café presented a cheque for £700 Sandra Burgin and Gill Moss from Age Concern Syston, see picture below.
The total raised by the Syston High Flyers is still to be confirmed but should exceed £7,000!
What an amazing amount – Well Done to all who took part!
