Berrystead Nursing Home

On Saturday 30th September we opened the doors of our home to the public for our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon. We were overwhelmed with the response, help and donations from the surrounding community, who all contributed to making the day a real success. Everyone that came enjoyed the many attractions and fun was had by the whole family.
Berrystead is a 42 bedded Nursing and Residential Home specializing in Physical Disabilities and End of Life Care.Sadly, Cancer has become so widespread now, that nearly every family has or knows someone with cancer, and with many of our service users and staff being affected by cancer. That is why we are all so passionate about supporting Macmillan.
We would like to thank everyone that helped and the local companies that generously donated prizes and to all the staff, Service Users and their relatives for helping with promoting cancer awareness and help in raising the staggering amount of £1,037.

We also invited the Stn to record our event and record the official hand-over of a beautiful garden bench, pictured above left, donated by Rick and Louis Astill of G. E. Gamble & Sons and presented it to Berrystead Nursing home owners Gurdip and Kuldip Hoojan, along with Clare Harvey, Manager and staff member Lary. The staff thought it was too lovely to put in the garden so they have made space for it in the reception area and it looks as if it was made especially for the space!
Clare said “On behalf of Berrystead I would like to thank Rick and Louis for donating to us such a lovely seat. It is engraved along the front edge, which makes it more special.”
